The No.7 track of The Mummy OST, The Call of the Ancients, is full of softness and beauty. The person whom the queen of Egypt only believes in, is her lover, the leading actor. By summoning, the leading actor was destined to, while still a bit confused, untie the rope for the queen, allowing her to return to her dominance.

The Egyptian believed in reincarnation. The scene meant to solve entangled problems from the last life. A boy by the king’s secret lover was born, which also took away the queen’s love, wealth and power. The queen of Egypt thought that she was abandoned, therefore, she shifted her love to her man. Others, she considered them as betrayal and began cruel killing and revenge.

However, things didn’t go as what her wanted to. The queen was caught by guards and was prisoned into the forbidden ground where reincarnation never happens. All the revenge and relief of the queen were sent hopes on her lover.

The song The Call of the Ancients, therefore, didn’t send any messages on killing or revenge, but a distant love going through time and space. It’s the only hope from the queen to break free from curses. She was deeply in love with the leading actor, but the love was hidden with fear and insecure at the end. So, the queen needed power, control and the surrender from the other person.

The melody structure seems similar to the No.13 track by Hans Florian Zimmer in the soundtrack of The Da Vinci Code, Chevaliers De Sangreal. They sound similar, but express very different emotions here.

You cannot find this song on YouTube, need to get it on Spotify, iTunes or through CD purchase.

The movie highlights that, no matter how evil or greedy people are, they are in fact holding the essence of kindness.I’m truly wondering what kind of characteristics will be presented by the sequel next time.
